Top-of-the-line heavy weight fly rods and reels are available to the anglers fishing aboard the Gamefisher2. The boat is equipped with 14, 16 and 18 weight fly rods, the necessary equipment to capture larger billfish species.

Species landed on fly are: Pacific Sailfish, Blue Marlin. Striped Marlin & Black Marlin.

We offer flies that are made in house . They are a type of tube fly that are simple and seem to work fine. Hot pink is the most popular color with the sailfish .

There are several fly lines on the market now a days that work well . It is important that they have as less a diameter as possible and a minimum breaking strength of 30lbs. The average shooting head is 30 feet. We cut it back to 15 feet. Most running lines are 50 feet or more. We cut it back to 40 feet .

6 /o “Owner or Gamagatsu” hooks are the ticket. 100lb. shock leader is recommended. An 80 lb. butt section is used most of the time for sails and marlin. A 20 lb. tippet is recommended. Anglers are welcome to go as light as they dare.
