FLASH: A new YouTube Video with lots of action in the Video Gallery Click Here

November 26, 2011: Tom Stelle and Patrick Cooney decided to fish way to the south. We ended up fishing much further away than we normally do and were rewarded for our extra efforts. We had a small marlin in the baits that did not bite. Patrick successfully released a blue marlin that was conservatively estimated to be well over 900lbs. It has been probably 10 years since I have seen a fish of that size and girth. The fish was teased up to the back of the boat with a Mold Craft wide range soft head lure (we call this particular lure Bill Perry) where she was switched to a dorado belly on the 80# tackle. She ate the bait with the swivel almost touching the rod tip. Needless to say it was a bite that no one on board will ever forget!! Patrick did an excellent job at angling the fish. The fight took a little over an hour. Congratulations Patrick. I am sad to say that the pictures do not do the fish justice.
